What does “Genuine” mean to you?
An example of genuine is relationships.
It’s a proven fact that they’re ulterior motives between most of our inter-personal relationships in life. This includes love relationship ,friendships and others but in my opinion its those 1 or two special relationships that make life worth living and easier to endure.
In these friendships, the ulterior motives are based on a mutual feeling of empathy, in which both sides have a strategic goal of empowering the other. Most of these friendships can be described as “genuine”, because they’re is real feeling between both parties.
The biggest question is how do you understand what’s genuine and what’s not? How do you look at sum of all the elements and figure out what the purpose is when it comes to interpersonal relationships. Why are you speaking to some people and not speaking to other people? The way you do this, is by understanding your feelings and trusting your grip on the environment around you. I know thats a vague answer, but as human beings what we feel is our strongest emotion and main indicator of success or trouble.
Speaking of “what is genuine”, I am going to take this post in a different direction, I have always had a very unique relationship with religion. Recently I went to Israel to try to uncover the reasons why I have had continually had a little discomfort with thoughts, feelings, and emotions that accompany my jewish faith. I find that deep down I am proud to be Jewish, proud of the people that I am coupled with in a group, proud of the culture, and proud to eventually have jewish kids.
Something though has been missing, and I finally am able to positively communicate it and I am hoping that maybe a lot of other people have similar emotions. I feel like religion in general isn’t particularly “genuine”. (although they’re a lot of people I met through religion that are genuine)
Religions are funded by money or better yet by people who feel so strong about their faith that they donate to the cause of helping other people find their faith. This continued support from wealthy donors helps spread religion, faith, and the most important one which is the keeping the faith alive through generations. I am one of those people that care deeply about keeping the faith alive, although at the same time I question what elements of religion are genuine and more importantly what people in my religion are genuine?
I don’t think questioning religion has any bearing on your belief in god, they are not as inter-connected as some people portray them to be. I have really trying to be religious and get that belief going, but because I struggle with figuring what is genuine and what it isn’t it, has in a sense inhibited me from taking that next step.
As I write this post sitting here in Argentina, the big picture of it is “you need chase what you ever believe is genuine in your life”. It could be relationships, friendship, a love for a particular hobby it really doesn’t matter. Example: if you love traveling and your love for traveling is genuine then you need to travel. It will all workout if you chase whatever is genuine..
